While Rafael’s body of work speaks of the very nature of interaction and its materializations as a reflection of a society, its flaws and repairs; Celine uses interaction with nature to reflect a search for meaning in the process of recovery from sexual violence. This search takes physical forms through photography or creation with elements of the landscape, manifestations of an internal process of transience, balance, refuge, disgust, shame, and pain. Between both, a meeting point is created in creative experimentation that allows for a spontaneous attitude towards art.
Everything is process, cycle. The spiral that dominates Rafael’s image condenses the artists’ practices; It shows what remains of what the sea and wind tried to erase: a creation that mirrors the contact between humans and landscape in its inherent cyclical nature. We are faced with a monument that will not be preserved, but the creative impulse that conceived it will persist.
